 Description  « Hide
I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Leopard and even since when i open a css file in eclipse, i get the following error

(Build 1.1.0.007007) Unabled to create browser control:Firefox
Not implemented [need SWT compatibility pack from Apple] (java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError)

This only appears in Eclipse 3.3 on OS X 10.5. We are attempting a workaround.

Hi,

What version of Eclipse are you using with Aptana as a plugin?

Thomas Vie - 04/Feb/08 07:01 AM

I have exactly the same problem when I open HTML files.

Eclipse Version:
Version: 3.3.1.1
Build id: M20071023-1652

Aptana is up to date from http://update.aptana.com/install/3.2/

Angstrom Milli-Gauss Ems - 04/Feb/08 08:55 PM
I get precisely this problem when I import the slider demo scriptaculous script as a project and then open index.html.

I am completely up to date on the nightly builds and Leopard and Eclipse.

Vikram Kamath - 04/Feb/08 09:27 PM
Aptana plugging was creating problems for me to proceed with my work and i've uninstalled it.
Everytime i open a html or css, the error used to pop up.

Kevin Sawicki - 04/Feb/08 09:53 PM
Have you tried disabling the Firefox preview in both the HTML and CSS editors and seeing if this issue persists? I believe that to be the cause.

Eric Ferraiuolo - 05/Feb/08 10:46 AM
Kevin,

I am having the same problem as described above and removed Firefox from the preview preference for CSS and HTML and now I don't have that error popping up all the time.

This seems like more of a band-aid than a fix to me; I hope this issue is known because I would like to be able to use the Firefox preview when working on HTML files.

Kevin Sawicki - 05/Feb/08 11:39 AM
Yes it is a band-aid and hopefully we will have a fix soon. We build on top of XULRunner which uses the AWT_SWT bridge in Eclipse to embed an AWT frame in an SWT frame.

It appears that the AWT_SWT is non-functional on Eclipse 3.3 on Mac OS 10.5

I have opened a bug against Eclipse here https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=217012 and am waiting for a reply.

So until then the Standalone Aptana and Aptana as a plugin to Eclipse 3.2 should work with the Firefox preview if that is a better band-aid then not having the firefox preview at all.

I'm having the same issue. When can we expect a patch for this? It's really frustrating to get an error dialog everytime I open a jsp file.

Kevin Sawicki - 21/Feb/08 11:33 AM
Do you get it everytime, even if you disable the firefox preview?

Angstrom Milli-Gauss Ems - 21/Feb/08 04:51 PM
Yes. Every time with the plugin. At least, 1.1.1.007533 has been doing it.
Not a problem at all with the stand-alone.

Kevin Sawicki - 21/Feb/08 04:52 PM
So what preview tabs do you have on the CSS editor?

Angstrom Milli-Gauss Ems - 21/Feb/08 05:00 PM
I withdraw my recent comment.

Joe Maisel - 29/Feb/08 03:52 PM
Hey Kevin, sorry for the delay in responding.

I've disabled the firefox preview and it seems better now. As a side note this also fixed another issue I was having which seem to be related.

Opening javascript files with CMD + Shift + R was crashing Eclipse consistently. Now that I've disabled the preview this behavior seems to have ceased. Hope that's somehow helpful or useful.

Hi,

Eclipse 3.3.2 has been released where this issue should be fix if using Aptana Studio as a plugin.

Please try it out and report if the issue isn't resolved: http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.3.2-200802211800/index.php

Michael Xia - 14/Aug/08 07:56 PM
This was a specific issue for Eclipse/SWT 3.3 on Mac and was resolved in Eclipse 3.3.2.
