 Description  « Hide
After having problems with a nightly a few days ago, I re-installed eclipse from scratch (Europa J2EE version), and Aptana Studio and Pro.

My update policy is set to 'Stable Release Candidates'.

This morning when starting eclipse I was informed that an Aptana Studio Pro update was available, but when I selected to download and install the update, it produced an error message stating that the 'Result Configuration Does Not Contain The Platform'.

I therefore cancelled the update and attempted a Help>Software Updates>FInd And Install.

I was told that an Aptana Studio and Aptana Studi Pro Update were available - when selecting the Pro update, I get the same error ('Result Configuration Does Not Contain The Platform'), if I select the Aptana Studio update I get a 'Configuration Problems' error.

I didn't see this as a Major or Critical bug hopefully it will help you.

Regards,

Dan

Please repair your configuration, the instructions are at http://www.aptana.com/node/251, and let us know if this resolves your issue.

But there shouldn't be anything to repair - I had problems with Aptana last week so re-installed eclipse and Aptana fresh.

The link you direct me to suggests that configuration needs manual fixing/hacking after uninstalling a prior version of Aptana - this is not the case for me - I installed eclipse, installed a fresh stable build of Aptana and the issue I raised occured a day or 2 later on startup.

Additional Info....

I've just started Eclipse/Aptana without making any changes or performing any upgrades since this error occured. Out of curiosity, I tried 'check for updates...' and was informed:

Aptana Automatic Updates: No Updates available. Please try again later.

As I have made no changes at my end, I am guessing that the error originated at your update server and that it tried to push an invalid update file that wasn't configured correctly?

Dan, can you tell us the specific version number of Eclipse? Apparently there was a bug in previous versions for which a patch was recently released, which might have caused the problem as well as account for the current state. There have been no updates issued by us in this timeframe.

Hi Bill,

My Eclipse version details:

Version: 3.3.2
Build id: M20080221-1800

If you need more specifics regarding feature version, please advise.

Thanks,

Dan

Per user comment, this was a transient issue that no longer occurs.

Arvind, can you provide info about your Eclipse version? Not which install, but the version #.

Similar issue here. Aptana installation from the update site goes fine. After the installation and Eclipse restart I get message:

Aptana Studio needs to install the following new functionality:
Aptana Studio Professional
Continue?

When I try to select the components to install, I get 'Current Configuration Problems'
I am using: Eclipse Version: 3.4.2 (Build id: M20090211-1700) .

I got similar issue as Vitaly. I installed a clean copy of Aptana, After the "Aptana RadRails" installation and restart I get message:

Aptana Studio needs to install the following new functionality:
Aptana Studio Professional
Continue?

When I try to select the components to install, I get 'Current Configuration Problems'

I am using: Aptana Studio, build: 1.2.5.023247 (MacOSX leopard 10.5.6)

I'm the original reporter - This was a continual issue for me (see also STU-2158) that was not resolved.

After paying for an IDE that failed to work, I simply gave up on Aptana.

Resolving as Cannot Reproduce. We've tried lots of different combinations of P2 and Classic update and several different plugins, but we cannot duplicate the error in-house.

If you have steps to reproduce, please reopen.
