Dan, does your last comment mean this issue went away?
Hi Bill,
Sorry I wasn't clear - Yes it's gone away, or it's currently working anyway - referring to the previous bug (2025) I don't think the issue ever went away, it just seems that it only occurs from time to time. I have the same Eclipse/Aptana install/config as in the previous bug - I pretty much install my dev environment, configure it and leave it alone apart from installing Aptana updates when prompted to do so. When I raised this issue on 15th (2158) I had not had a problem since July (issue 2025) - It occured for a day and a half each time I started Eclipse and attempted to install the Aptana updates that I was prompted with (4 or 5 times over 2 days), then without changing anything at my end I started Eclipse on Saturday evening and the Aptana updates installed successfully without showing the 'Resulting configuration does not contain the platform' error. Does this help? Dan, please reopen this ticket and attach your error log file if the problem occurs again (though hopefully it won't, of course).
I just started Eclipse/Aptana after using it evey day without error since my last post, however.
I was prompted to Install an Aptana Studio Professional upgrade (1.1.12.009184_200803190051) and am given the error: Resulting configuration does not contain the platform. I'm going to attach a screenshot to this issue. screenshot -1 shows the error that occured at startup when I was automatically prompted to download an update.
screenshot-2 (not sure why there are 3 copies) shows the error that occured after cancelling the original update window and attempting to manually obtain the update via Help>Software Updates>FInd and Install Please restart Eclipse using the Clean Configuration choice on the Help | Aptana Troubleshooting menu and see if this problem clears. If it doesn't, you will probably need to update to a newer rev of Eclipse 3.3.
I always try -clean when I have Aptana issues - I'm afraid it makes no difference.
Bill, Are you saying that Aptana doesn't work with the Europa build of Eclipse? Can you please advice me which version/build does work. Thanks, Dan I'm not saying that, I am saying that there are newer versions of 3.3 (at least I found 3.3.3, there may be more) and you should update to the latest 3.3 release.
I would try 3.3.3 if I could find it. The eclipse downloads page shows the following:
Latest Releases I already have the 3.3.2 and I don't believe Aptana works well with 3.4 yet (please correct me if I'm wrong). You may as well close this issue then if you can't reproduce or provide a fix. It's a real shame because Aptana has the potential to be a great IDE for JS development but I just find it far too unstable for a product that I've paid for. Thanks anyway. We do have user working well on 3.4, though you must use the Classic Installer and not p2. The reason I didn't suggest it previously is because it's a more significant effort and change for you, not because we don't support it.

I have now updated to Aptana Version: 1.1.12.009184_200803190051.
Very strange that I should keep having these sproradic issues as nothing has changed with my configuration.
